Furniture and Finishing

Kefken Ahşap Dekorasyon makes made-to-measure timber furniture for homes, offices and boats, and renews old furniture with sanding, paint and varnish. The furniture is made in our workshop in Arnavutköy, and our own team handles installation on site.

Which furniture do you make?

Some of the work we have done:

• Kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets
• Bedroom units, overbed units, bedside cabinets and radiator covers
• Carved and slatted interior doors
• Storage benches and custom-size tables
• Desks, consoles and cabinets for boat cabins

Each piece is made for the size and use of its space. Places where off-the-shelf furniture does not fit, such as uneven walls, unusual ceiling heights or the curve of a boat, are where custom work helps most.

Which timber and materials are used for furniture?

Solid timber such as oak can be used for visible surfaces, and board materials for carcasses and interiors where suitable. For boat furniture, moisture-resistant timber and stainless fittings should be preferred. For colour, varnishes and lacquers that show the grain, or opaque paints such as white, can be applied. We discuss which material suits the budget and use during the site visit.

When does furniture need refinishing?

If a piece has a scratched surface, faded colour or dull varnish but a sound body, renewing it is often more sensible than throwing it away. The old coat is sanded off, broken parts are repaired if needed, and new paint or varnish is applied. High-gloss lacquered tables and doors are among the work we have done.

How does a furniture job work?

1. Site visit: We see the room or the furniture to be renewed and talk about what you need.
2. Measurement and quote: We take measurements, settle the materials, colour and details, and give a quote.
3. Workshop fabrication: The furniture is made in our workshop, and paint and varnish are applied there.
4. Installation: The pieces are delivered, fitted and adjusted.
5. Maintenance: After handover you can call us for repairs and refinishing.

How do you look after timber furniture?

Wiping varnished surfaces with a damp cloth and drying them straight away is enough; harsh detergents damage the finish. Keeping hot pans and glasses off the bare surface prevents marks. Door hinges should be adjusted when they loosen. Surfaces that turn dull over the years can be renewed with a fresh coat of varnish.
