Kefken Ahşap Dekorasyon makes timber planters, plant boxes, benches and seating groups for terraces and gardens. Instead of standard sizes, we work to your space: an L-shaped bench that fits a corner or a row of planters along a wall is prepared in the workshop to the measurements of the site.

Which planters and seating do you make?

Some of the work we do:

  • Square and rectangular planters with horizontal slats
  • Planters with a screen behind them, for plants and privacy at once
  • L-shaped benches for terrace corners
  • Sun loungers and storage benches
  • Coffee tables on castors and garden tables

We often make planters and benches together with a deck or terrace, in the same timber and colour, so the space reads as one piece. We also set the depth of a planter by what you will grow: shallow boxes for seasonal flowers and herbs, deeper ones for shrubs and small trees.

How is a timber planter protected from the soil?

The biggest problem for timber in a planter is the damp soil inside. So we build the box from timber that holds up outdoors, such as pressure-treated pine, and line the inside so the soil does not touch the wood directly. Drainage holes are left in the base and the box is raised slightly off the ground. That way the roots do not sit in water and the timber can dry out.

How does a planter and seating job work?

  1. Site visit: We see the space and talk about the sun direction and where people will sit and walk.
  2. Measurement and quote: We take measurements, settle the model, timber and colour, and give a quote.
  3. Workshop fabrication: Boxes, seats and backrests are assembled in our workshop in Arnavutköy.
  4. Installation: The pieces are placed on site and fixed to the floor or wall where needed.
  5. Maintenance: After handover you can call us to renew the oil or paint.

How do you maintain timber benches and planters?

Seats take sun and rain directly. When the surface dries out and the colour fades, a light sanding and an oil suited to the timber make the bench smooth and protected again. For planters, oiling the outside is enough; checking now and then that the inner lining is not torn extends their life. Bringing cushions in over winter and keeping water from pooling on the bench also helps. We also repair and refresh benches and planters you already have.

Frequently asked questions

Can a planter be made to fit my terrace?

Yes. We make planters and benches in our workshop to the measurements of your space.

Will a timber planter rot because of the soil?

It can if it is not built properly. We make the box from timber that holds up outdoors, line the inside against the soil and leave drainage in the base.

Can a bench be used for storage?

Yes. We make storage benches with lids, handy for cushions and garden things.

Can I have planters and benches made together with a deck?

Yes, we often make them together with a deck or terrace, in the same timber and colour.

What determines the price?

The number of pieces, their sizes, the timber species, details such as backrests or storage, and the colour. We give an exact figure after measuring.
